Swiss Farm 2008 is behind us now. A wonderful adventure with many wonderful memories that we all can share.  I've moved the pics of this years ride to their own pages so they would load a bit faster.   Click on the buttons on the left for the various slide shows.   SFIPICS1, 2, 3 and 4.  Enjoy!

We are getting ready for our annual trek to the Swiss Farm Inn, in Pittsfield, Vt.  This is a "can't be missed Body Shoppe bike ride, weekend away event that has proven to be ever so popular among many of our fellow cyclists.  For those of you that haven't been involved in this ride, I'll try to give you an idea of what's involved.

At the bottom of this page you can see a slide show of last years ride.  If it looks like fun, you're absolutely right.......it simply is a TBS event not to be missed.

The quote above, regarding "The Worlds Best Breakfast" probably isn't too far off the mark, if at all.  Roger and Joyce serve up a wonderful breakfast, which is probably only surpassed by the dinner served up by our hosts the night before.   So for those of you that haven't yet traveled with us, here's the story.  If you have traveled with us, you might want to read on because this years ride has a little bit of a different format.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WAIVER. If you plan on joining us on any of our outside activities, please print out and sign this waiver and bring it with you if you haven't yet turned one in.

We leave TBS around 7AM on Saturday morning of Memorial Day Weekend.  For this year, that means May 24th.
Swiss Farm Inn:
800-245-5126
Route 100, Pittsfield, VT
The Inn is SOLD OUT. HOWEVER, If you would like to join us, please call the Clear River Inn at 800-746-7916.  The only difference is that you wouldn't sleep at the SFI.  You would chill at the SFI, eat at the SFI, socialize at the SFI but sleep elsewhere.  If you are interested in going, please do.  Also, you DO NOT pay for your room at the Clear River.  At the end of the weekend, you will pay at the SFI like everyone else.

You need to call up and book your own rooms.  Book soon and when possible please try and share a room.  I would like to put all of our riders up at the SFI but due to it's popularity we may have to book a nearby motel as well. Roger sets aside the whole Inn for us so tell him you're with The Body Shoppe Ride. Please send me an email when you book and I will have names published on the bottom of this page. That will make it easier to buddy up. If you plan on going but haven't yet booked, email me and I'll put your name on the list for people to see and perhaps buddy up with.

The basic route is:
North out of Greenfield to Bernardston.  We travel up Route 142 into Vt., pick up Route 30 in Brattleboro and eventually Route 100 in VT.  The ride is scenic, with very few tricky spots.  Getting thru Brattleboro really isn't too bad.

The length of the trip is roughly 110 miles each way.  Now I know, after reading that last sentence, many of you are saying "WHAT!  HE'S NUTS!  Well, that may be partially true but to do this ride doesn't mean you have to ride 110 miles each way. We've had people on this ride that have ridden anywhere's from 0 to 110 and they all share something in common:  A good time with friends.   If you only want to ride 40 miles, (20 at a time) or whatever, we can accomodate.  If you want to ride the whole way, both ways, we can accomodate.  Here's how we do it.

This year we'll have one sag vehicle.  It will be a 15 passenger van with a trailer in tow that will carry 15 bikes.  The sag unit will head up the road for 20 miles and wait for all riders to pass.  Once they do, the sag will go another 20 miles and hang until all have passed.  If anyone is too far behind, they will get into the sag and be driven ahead to the next sag.  The sag will leap frog like this until the last 30 miles or so and will forge ahead to drop off the luggage at the inn.  It will then turn back to finish up sagging duties.
We will not be able to let anyone in the group get too far behind as with only one sag vehicle we will need to keep the group in the same geographical area.

The route is fabulous and this ride has proven time and time again to be nothing short of a wonderful adventure.  You never know what's going to happen.  If you are intriqued by the idea, please contemplate going with us.  Start your training NOW.

Spinning classes are in order and come spring, which I truly hope comes soon, we will be doing some training rides of increasing lengths including hill training to help everyone get ready for the ride.  Many of our riders of the past have achieved their first CENTURY ride during the Swiss Farm Inn ride and you can too.

If after reading this, you have questions or you want to discuss your abilities or you want to address your concerns, please feel free to email me or call me or stop in at TBS.  Word of caution:  This rooms at the Inn sell out quickly as this has proven to be a very popular event. Call for your reservations as soon as possible.  If the Inn sells out, we can book at another location just down the street.  LASTLY, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE BEST USE OF THE INN, PLEASE BUDDY UP AND BOOK TWO TO A ROOM WHENEVER POSSIBLE.  When you call for a room, specify whether your need two beds or other.
