Who have we here......

Janice Bohonowicz, Spinning Instructor
I've been a Registered Nurse since age 21. I currently work in surgery at CDH and witnessed at an early age that your health is nothing to take for granted. I believe that my career choice has paved the way for my healthy lifestyle. I have maintained the same weight since my daughter was born and she is 25 years old. I have been involved in athletics my whole life and especially enjoy running, downhill skiing and biking. I have run marathons in all of the New England states. I met my husband Bruce at the Body Shoppe and probably never would have run into him anywhere else. Our lives were so different except our commitment to fitness. I have met many of my dearest friends through the Body Shoppe and I'm proud to be on staff here.

Jenn Bryant, Fitness Class and Spinning Instructor.

I joined TBS after having my first daughter 15 years ago & found that aerobic classes were an invigorating escape from being a full-time mommy. I enjoyed the upbeat music, the friendly people, and the way I felt after a good workout. (I also shed the baby weight without having to starve myself!) I loved it so much I trained to become an instructor & have been teaching for the last 14 years (and through the birth of my second daughter). I've since trained to teach spinning classes and have been doing that for the last 4 years. I live in Montague and work full-time in the sales department at Judd Wire. Although my life is very busy with work, kids, and a house, I've always managed to make time for teaching classes. It's fun, makes me feel good, and is a great way to keep in shape.

Lynnette Scott.  Certified Pesonal Trainer thru ACSM and Fitness Instructor
About four years ago I started my fitness journey with TBS. On a cruise in the Caribbean my sister mentioned she had joined TBS and was excited about it, little did I know how that casual conversation would enrich my life. I came home and joined TBS,like most everyone else I was nervous to start at a new gym and felt apprehensive about my fitness level and knowledge,or lack there of,but everyone I came in contact with at TBS was supportive and friendly. I started at the beginning with the Fitlinxx Nautilus machines and trying out the treadmill and elliptical machines. As I felt comfortable ,I tried other offerings at TBS, I participated in the walk/run program, spinning classes, bosu, step, yoga, foam roller and core class. Each time I tried something new I felt welcome and "safe" to try something I had little or no experience with. I have since had the confidence to participate in climbing Mt Greylock,Monadanock,The Seven Sisters; run in a few 5K races, and now ride with the group on the Friday Night bike rides! A few years ago I was asked to work at TBS at the front desk and jumped at the chance to work in such a positive enviroment and surround myself with all these great people who had helped me. Recently, I became a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. My goal is to heip others with their fitness goals and hopefully pay forward the positive, encouragement and support that I received at TBS on my fitness journey.
When I'm not at TBS,I'm lucky enough to have an equally positve and supportive family and career. My family consists of my wonderful husband of 25 years,Don,and my two beautiful daughters, Emily(20) and Lauren (16). I am a full time dental hygienist for Drs. Reid, Klenowski and Reid in S.Deerfield for 18 years, which I truly enjoy. I also enjoy cooking ,gardening and
entertaining.
See you soon at TBS!!

I am almost a native of Greenfield, having moved here from Caribou Maine when I was five years old. I married my high school sweetheart Steve. I have raised two handsome and loving sons, Brian and Nathan. I am also a grandmother to Logan (son of Nate and his wife Nicole.)

I guess you could say I have evolved into fitness through a variety of avenues. I graduated GHS 1970 ( before title 9 was introduced.) I was a band member which led me to my first associate degree, in music. My second associates was in early childhood education at GCC. You could say I was conflicted with my career choice. I started my fitness life in my mid twenties and have been working at it ever since in various capacities. I've been at TBS for over 25 years as either a fitness instructor with nautilus/ free weights, an aerobic instructor (20 years) or a spinning instructor since 1995. I've recently added BOSU to my class schedule and am having fun working with this new tool. I am currently working on becoming a certified personal trainer.

When I'm not at TBS you may find me running, biking, swimming or hiking. I found Triathlon about 12 years ago. My first one was The Greenfield Triathlon! I like the international and half ironman distance. I love to get people involved with them too.
I have completed 13 marathons including some of the great city marathons in Boston, New York, Chicago, and Washington DC.

My latest big Kick was a rim to rim hike in the Grand Canyon. I can’t wait to return!!
I Love Yoga....I hope to someday touch my toes (not too flexible)
I love riding my bike, especially on a warm sunny day with my friends!
Hope to see you around TBS or on the road, trails or river!

                                                               Steve Shattuck, Manager, Spinning Instructor
About a million years ago, I graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in business management and have had a few career changes since.   My last year of college found me married to my highschool sweetheart (Becky).  Prior to coming to TBS back in 1999, I worked at Lunt Silversmiths for 17 years.  I haven't always been into fitness. My activity level has been on the rise for about 35 years now.   Back in the 70's I started running, moved into the martial arts, and have since become a triathlete.  I love training in the sport of swimming, biking and running.  Add Nautilus, Spinning and Yoga to the mix and you pretty much know what I spend my time doing when I'm not sitting at the computer.  Better yet, I love sharing my lifestyle with all of my friends.

Over the last 9 years, I have been so very fortunate  to have met hundreds and hundreds of wonderful people.......you guessed it, TBS members.   I have established relationships and strong friendships with many and I believe that will continue for many more years.   If you're surprised that I know your name, don't be.  I try and get to know each and every member that enters our facility.

As far as the photo above goes.....well, It's a few hours after my Grand Canyon crossing in 2007.  Hiking with Becky, I was able to accomplish something that I look back on and honestly still have a hard time believing I did it.  I actually crossed the Grand Canyon, South Rim to North Rim, in one day (about a dozen hours).  To this day, I am in awe of the GC and can't wait to go back.  That  accomplishment happened because of years and years of pursuing a quest.   Health thru fitness!   I continue that lifestyle to this day and expect to continue it for the next half century.  Please join me in your own journey and find your own motivation for living an active lifestyle.   Youth, is in your own hands.

Karen Shockro, Fitness Instructor
I live in Bernardston with my very long-time husband, Dennis, and our four dogs and two cats. Together we have raised three children into wonderful adults and are now proud grandparents of two boys and one little girl.

Besides my family, my loves include long distance walking, hiking, and backpacking. Twice I was able to finish the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Alaska, and the year after I turned 50, I thru-hiked the Long Trail that extends from the Vermont/Mass border to the Vermont/Canadian border. I also love to sew and quilt (it’s often been said that I get lost when I’m absorbed in all the textures and colors) and I love to read - especially books that take me on journeys that I can live vicariously through!

Because my educational background is wildlife conservation, I volunteer with several managing agencies participating in mammal tracking inventories, moose surveys, and – this was the best – I was even lucky enough to follow five radio-collared female black bears for almost a year learning about their family breakups, territory use, and denning cycles. That was a blast!

Please join me and other Body Shoppe staff on our outdoor programs. We hope to take you to new places and engage you with new adventures!

I moved to Ma. from NY State July 4th 1984 and have lived in Greenfield ever since. I have 2 children, one boy and one girl.

I love music of all kinds and I am an avid fan of line dancing, so of course since joining the Body Shoppe my first love for exercise is Aerobics ! I enjoy coming up with new and interesting moves to teach my class. Come and join me!!

I also like to Roller blade, take long walks, watch a good movie, enjoy a meal out with family or friends. I try to spend a week at the beach every summer (lots of fun!) and I enjoy a good conversation with friends anytime!
